Equity Audits

We Help You See Your Organization Clearly

Are your human resources policies and practices in full compliance with equity-related legislation? What barriers exist to the hiring, advancement, and full inclusion of the equity-deserving groups within your organization? How can the organization remove these barriers and diversify the workforce, treat employees more equitably, and foster inclusive work environments?

Are there barriers to accessing your programs or services? Do you program policies reflect the needs of people from diverse communities, backgrounds, and identities? When they access your services are your clients and service users treated equitably? Do they benefit from your programs and services?

Whether the focus is on your workplace or service delivery, our Equity Audits can find the answers to these questions, uncovering the systemic patterns that create and maintain inequities. We assess your organization’s internal structures, policies, and practices, workplace culture, and delivery of programs and services with the goal of identifying where inequities exist and provide recommendations to address them.

​​Employment Equity Audit

An Employment Equity Audit, also known as an Employment Systems Review, is an examination of your organization’s employment policies, practices, and organizational culture. It looks at both formal and informal policies and practices to determine if they present a barrier to hiring, advancement, or full inclusion of the equity-deserving groups. These are groups of employees who experience persistent and systemic discrimination in employment, namely women, racialized people, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQ+ employees. We also consider what’s missing, identifying the absence of policies or practices that could promote equity, diversity and inclusion.

Our Employment Equity Audits include the following elements:
  • A review of your written employment policies and procedures
  • Analysis of your equity-related data and documents, such as human rights complaints, diversity training materials, and employee engagement survey results
  • Consultations with your employees through online surveys and focus groups
  • Consultations with your senior leaders, human resource staff, and union representatives​
  • A comprehensive analysis to identify systemic barriers within your organization
  • Development of recommendations to address the identified barriers and challenges

​Programs & Services Equity Audit

A Programs & Services Equity Audit examines how your organization’s programs and services are designed, delivered, and experienced by your clients and service users from the equity-deserving groups. We assess whether your programs and services are accessible, inclusive, and meet the needs of the communities they are intended to serve. By uncovering these insights, your organization can make informed improvements that better meet your client’s needs while embedding equity into every stage of service delivery.

Our Programs & Services Equity Audits include the following elements:
  • Review of your written program policies and procedures
  • Analysis of your equity-related data and documents, such as human rights complaints, diversity training materials, and client reviews
  • Consultations with your employees through online surveys and focus groups
  • Consultations with your clients and service users through online surveys and focus groups
  • Observations of your programs and services, where appropriate
  • Comprehensive analysis and identification of systemic barriers to accessing your services, equitable client treatment, and equitable outcomes
  • Development of recommendations to address the identified barriers and challenges
